Teach me, Grandpa, 2018.
My grandpa Adolph encouraged my academic and creative endeavors. He was a physicist. I remember him explaining the fibonacci sequence to me as a child. I excitedly remembered this connection years later in my calculus class, understanding the connection between math and the natural world. Like my grandfather and uncle I drew, I love learning math and teaching. In my drawing, the equations scribbled around my family are problems from my calculus and chemistry homework and notes, showing my connection to my science-oriented family. Through this piece, I connect my desires to learn math and science with my art interests and show how my family has inspired me to learn.

I'm a first year student who enjoys creating art that shows my connection to my family and my cultural experiences studying abroad. I also love fashion, so I like to sew and create origami earrings. These are pieces of art that I can wear myself. I'm also interested in design and am learning about graphic and web design.
