Enso, 2019.
The word "ensō" is Japanese for "circle" and is a sacred symbol in Buddhism and modern calligraphy. Enso uses circle as a foundation to combine modern electronics with a traditional Japanese zen garden. While the plate of sand slowly rotates, bamboo sticks move up and down to draw spiraling patterns in the sand. When one of the sticks engages with the sand, a unique beat is played. Each line the user draws adds a new instrument to Enso's song and when all of the sticks are drawing, Enso plays a powerful song of meditation.
