A City Within the Pages, 2019.
"Using renaissance cities as my theme, the idea was to elaborate on the idea from Baxandall’s idea of “The Period Eye” on how adding context can change one’s perspective on the image and add to cognitive style. To essentially prove this idea, I focused on using perspective to show the city through the lens of cognitive style while also digging into historical context and meaning to buildings that were built in the renaissance and how they add to this idea of an “ideal renaissance city”. My project encompassed creating my ideal renaissance city, and to do this, I carved a book page by page to create this city. However, one will not be able to understand the idea and background of why the city was designed this certain way until getting some “context”, moving the right page with the cross cutout over to the left."
