Apsara DiQuinzio, curator of modern and contemporary art and Phyllis C. Wattis MATRIX Curator at BAMPFA, discusses her methodology and process in developing and organizing the exhibition Charles Howard: A Margin of Chaos. Although Howard exhibited in many important historical exhibitions of his time and with such well-known artists as Man Ray, Salvador Dalí, and Alexander Calder, he is little known to historians and contemporary audiences. DiQuinzio will delve into this history and the art historical periods with which he was affiliated, such as Surrealism and early American abstraction, while focusing on key paintings in the exhibition.
