Black Wednesday Wall: Reimagined

Individuals who were integral to the Black Wednesday Wall public art project share insights about the process of reimagining the space and what they ultimately envision it to be. This event is a continuation of last fall’s Arts + Design Mondays conversation which focused on the history behind Black Wednesdays (see https://youtu.be/yZ9t9JNMWjs). Panelists include Cheryl Wright, president of the Black Alumni Association; Melissa Charles, assistant director of the African American Student Development Office; quame patton, UC Berkeley alumni and former staff and Ourstorian; Chidube Okoro, UC Berkeley alumni and former African American Student Development Student staff leader; Brian McGhee, UC Berkeley alumni and former student-athlete; Dominick Williams, UC Berkeley alumni and former student TRIAD leader; Lishelle Blakemore, UC Berkeley alumni and associate vice chancellor of development in the University Development and Alumni Relations; Naniette Coleman, UC Berkeley PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology, and founder of Night Out/Night Off for graduate students of color at UC Berkeley; and Leigh Raiford, associate professor in UC Berkeley’s Department of African American Studies. The event will be moderated by Takiyah Jackson, director of the African American Student Development Office and Fannie Lou Hamer Black Resource Center; and Mia Settles-Tidwell, assistant vice chancellor and chief of staff in the Division of Equity & Inclusion.
