The role of the arts in the future of cities is a vibrant topic, and a fraught topic. Explore past and contemporary debates on the design of cities, on place-making, and on gentrification, whether in our own Bay Area or in urban destinations throughout the world. 

Campus launched the Berkeley Discovery Initiative in hopes of transforming the undergraduate experience at UC Berkeley.

The goal of the campuswide plan is to ensure every undergraduate has the opportunity to pursue creative, independent “discovery projects” that can serve as a career foundation.

Officials are considering plans to redesign four busy streets near UC Berkeley. City leaders rejected an effort to add bus lanes to Telegraph more than a decade ago.

The University of California is seeking to add 20,000 seats for students by 2030, the equivalent of a new campus, to help meet surging demand for a UC education and college graduates to fill the state’s growing need for highly skilled employees.
