Sitayana (or How to Make an Exit ) is an artful transposition of the Hindu epic The Ramayana told from Sita’s point of view. Part epic tale, part coming of age story, Sitayana is the ultimate breakup play. Three performers star in solo shows of this epic tale with unique interpretations and productions. Three versions offer different approaches to the same legendary story. She is predominantly known for her critically acclaimed solo-show Muthaland, which was Jeff-nominated for best New Work and best Solo Performance. She has performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Berkeley Repertory Theater, and Florida Studio Theater. Her small screen appearances include Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Onion News Network (Nina Shankar), and Brown Girls. Off-stage, Minita is active in socio-political work focusing on cultivating community, disrupting isolation, and healing. She is the National Program Director at Advance Gender Equity in the Arts (AGE), connecting women and non-binary emerging artists of color with Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) National Theater Leaders.
