TDPS presents 'Curly Fries: A Working Title'

About the Series Twelve young people navigate a world blindsided by a pandemic and a reckoning for racial justice. How to go to school, pay the rent, stay alive, attend a protest, go on a date? Can curly fries save the day? Commissioned from three of the Bay Area's most talented storytellers and created in a collaborative, organic process, this six-part webisode series mirrors our experience of the world today: no one quite knows where the story is headed. Read the program with notes from the director and writers. About the Writers Patricia Cotter is an Emmy Award winner and Groundling Theater alum. Her awards also include the American Academy of Arts Letters, Richard Rodgers Award, and Writers Guild of America Award. Plays include: 1980 (Or Why I’m Voting For John Anderson), The Surrogate, and Rules of Comedy, among many others. Geetha Reddy is a playwright and filmmaker working in the Bay Area. Her plays Safe House and On a Wonderverse were selected for the Bay Area Playwrights Festival. She wrote HeLa (TheatreFirst) with Lauren Gunderson and Blastosphere! (Central Works Theater) with Aaron Loeb. Me Given You, Girl in a Box, and On a Wonderverse were part of the Playwright’s Foundation’s ‘In the Rough’ reading series. Alejandra Maria Rivas is a theatre artist currently living in the Bay Area. Most recently she wrote La Paloma which had its first staged reading as a part of the Bay Area Women’s Theatre Festival as a part of their Women of Color Reading Series, previously staged in an Under 30: One Acts Festival. They also directed Late: a cowboy song by Sarah Ruhl with A.C.T.’s MFA students in their Sky Festival. About the Director Domenique Lozano is a Bay Area based director, educator, and actress. She was a Resident Artist with the American Conservatory Theater (ACT) for 15 years, where she served as the resident director of the main stage production of A Christmas Carol. She also served as a core faculty member in the MFA Program, and a teacher in the Young Conservatory and Studio ACT Programs. Ms. Lozano has served on the TDPS faculty since 2014 and has taught throughout the acting sequence. She directed the Fall 2018 TDPS production of Tartuffe.
