Mousumi Banerjee | Tagore in My Mind

Wed Feb 03, 2021 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Zoom Event
The Tagore Program on Literature, Culture and Philosophy at UC Berkeley is thrilled to announce Celebrating Rabindranath Tagore, a two-week long virtual festival on Rabindranath Tagore. Featuring lectures and presentations by eminent scholars of Tagore Studies, Rabindrasangeet performances by world renowned artists, as well as a staging of Dak Ghar, a play by Tagore's, this festival will showcase the life and legacy of Rabindranath Tagore. The third event in this series is a Rabindrasangeet performance by Mousumi Banerjee titled "Tagore in My Mind." Tagore in My Mind is a journey: a journey that starts as a lullaby amidst the smell of hasnuhana on a summer night in Kolkata, and traverses through many monsoons to the middle-age in a Western society, to the sound of silence in a faraway land. It is a personal yet universal saga, told through exquisitely beautiful story-telling, songs, poetry, and music; of a Bengali growing up and growing old with Rabindranath, adopting his oeuvre as a way of life.
