Auditions for 'Pool of Unknown Wonders'

The Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies (TDPS) invites current UC Berkeley students to audition for its Fall 2021 production of "Pool of Unknown Wonders: Undertow of the Soul" by Philip Kan Gotanda, directed by Michael Socrates Moran. Synopsis: “However many start must finish. However many begin, that many must arrive.” In an unfamiliar world, six unexpected companions find themselves on a common journey, facing unforeseen tests to achieve an unknown goal. Philip Kan Gotanda's surreal new drama plumbs the depths of the human quest for meaning in a fresh, urgent parable on wholeness, identity, and belonging. Casting: We are looking for actors to fill 10 roles: 4 male identifying roles, 2 female identifying roles, and 4 roles of any gender identity. Students with diverse backgrounds, immigrants, multilingual students, and students who like to sing, dance, or play a musical instrument are encouraged to audition. Commitment: Students cast in the show are committing to be available for all indicated calls on the production calendar and must enroll in Theater 181. Performances will take place October 14–17, 2021. Visit the TDPS Callboard for schedules and course details. Open Call Auditions: Auditions will be held in Zellerbach Playhouse on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6pm–10pm PT. Audition sign ups will be posted on the TDPS Callboard by Monday, August 9, 2021. Please be prepared to perform a 2-minute contemporary monologue of your choosing, as well as a song of your choosing. Callbacks: Friday, August 27, 2021 from 6pm–10pm PT Additional Information: All auditions, rehearsals, and performances for this production will be held in person.
