Auditions for Fall Choreography Showcase

The Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies invites UC Berkeley student dancers to audition for the Fall Choreography Showcase. The showcase is the culmination of Theater 146A, “Choreography: Solo and Duet Forms.” Dancers audition for choreographers in the class and those cast must enroll for one unit of Theater 146A. Final performances will take place December 9–10 in Zellerbach Hall, Room 7. Casting: Student choreographers are looking for dancers/movers who have a range of dance skills, from highly technical to experimental, explorative to improvisational, in addition to other movement skills such as tumbling, etc. Cast size of 8–16 dancers. Commitment: Students cast in the show are committing to be available for all rehearsals on Thursdays (2:10–4pm) beginning September 23; tech rehearsals on December 5 (11am–9pm) and December 6–8 (6–10:30pm); and performances on December 9–10 (6–10:30pm). Cast members must enroll in Theater 146A for one unit no later September 15, 2021. Open Call Auditions: Auditions will be held in Bancroft Studio (2401 Bancroft Way) on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 2:10–4pm PT. For the audition, come ready to move fully, perform one dance phrase taught by the choreographer(s), and showcase your performance skills and creativity. You may be asked to respond creatively to a prompt. Additional Information: All auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be held in person. Masks are required.
