The Pulitzer Prize-winning Irish poet and recipient of HM Queen Elizabeth’s Gold Medal for Poetry for 2017 visits the UC Berkeley campus for a reading of his recent and classic work. Co-presented with the Irish Arts & Writers Festival. Free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Paul Muldoon was born in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, in 1951. He now lives in New York. A former radio and television producer for the BBC, he has taught at Princeton University since 1987 and currently occupies the Howard G.B. Clark ’21 chair in the Humanities. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, he has received numerous awards and distinctions including an American Academy of Arts and Letters award in literature, the 1994 T. S. Eliot Prize, the 2006 European Prize for Poetry, the 2017 Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry and the Seamus Heaney Award for Arts & Letters. He is the recipient of honorary doctorates from ten universities.
