Spring Equinox Sound Bath

Tue Mar 20, 2018 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
UC Botanical Garden
WEATHER UPDATE: Do to wet weather, this event will take place in the Garden's Julia Morgan Hall, a 1911 building made of old redwood designed to echo the cathedral grandeur of a redwood grove. Celebrate the first day of spring with this special concert of quartz crystal singing bowls and finely tuned gongs surrounded by the warmth of redwoods. Close your eyes and experience the natural meditative quality of being in nature layered with serene sounds of quartz crystal singing bowls. These unique instruments slow down your brainwaves to meditative-like states through a process called entrainment that have the potential to: • Create sustained harmony of the body and mind. • Release emotional stress and physical tension. • Receive spontaneous insight and heightened intuition. • Soothe and balance your nervous system" No yoga will be practiced, simply wear comfortable clothes and bring layers, blankets, and anything that can make sitting more ease filled. No meditation experience needed. Kids 10+ older may join as long as they can sit still for 60 minutes. About the Presenter Melissa Felsenstein is a certified 750 hr yoga therapist and sound healer. A self-proclaimed “reformed” relaxer, Melissa focuses her work on restoring the nervous system through the use of live sound with quartz crystal singing bowls and specifically tuned gongs.
