Event description Una escuela llamada América tells a migration story, from the perspective of four children, born in different countries, who live in Arica, Chile. Together with their families, they walk us through their stories, challenges and obstacles, as well as their hopes and the opportunities available to them in a politically troubled Chile. After the virtual screening, the Director, Antonia Mardones, will be in conversation with Irene Bloemraad, founding director of Berkeley's Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative, and Dani Carrillo from Code for America. Speakers Antonia Mardones Marshall is the director of Una Escuela llamada América and is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at UC Berkeley. Dani Carrillo is a Qualitative Research Manager at Code for America. Moderator: Irene Bloemraad is a professor of Sociology and the founding director of Berkeley's Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative (BIMI).
