Abigail De Kosnik: New Archives

Thu Sep 23, 2021 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Zoom Webinar
Free and open to the public; online only. Please register here. New human expressions need to be archived in new ways. The way books were stored is not a good model for storing, for example, TV series or fan fiction. Join Abigail De Kosnik as she explains how new media create the need for archives, and how archives are creative works in their own right and form a foundation for collective action and social innovation. Gail De Kosnik is an Associate Professor of Performance Studies at the UC Berkeley Department of Theater, Dance and Performance Studies as well as the Faculty Director of the Berkeley Center for New Media. _________________________ Arts + Design Thursdays is made possible thanks to support from the Big Ideas Courses Program in the College of Letters & Science at UC Berkeley.
