Architecture is conceived in two and three dimensions; from one space to another. What if the line between these two was no longer distinguishable? Through a set of self-described parameters in a conceptual framework, my project envisioned spaces as a series of sheared volumes connected by voids. What initially seem to appear as discrete buildings, become symbiotically interconnected spaces. There is no telling where one space ends and the next begins. Out of this abstract exploration of space emerged a plan for a Performing Arts High School in downtown LA. The diagram shown here represents the negotiation among ambiguous interlocked spaces subdivided into defined programs for specific academies within the campus. Ultimately, the high school performs as a series of volumes completely dependent upon each other through their shared voids.
