Kate MacKay, Associate Film Curator at BAMPFA, will discuss her experience as a film curator - from festivals, to museum theatres to galleries - using specific case studies from her curatorial work


Biography

Kate MacKay is Associate Film Curator at the University of California Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive. She has served as the programmer and interim artistic director of The Images Festival of Independent Film and Video, one of North America’s largest festivals of alternative cinema and media art. Her programming activities have also included positions as guest curator at the Ryerson Image Centre, guest programmer for TIFF Cinematheque; programming associate for Wavelengths, and many more. She is Co-Founder and Co-Programmer of Early Monthly Segments, and has served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) since 2009.
