Abbott Thayer, the inventor of camouflage, commented that humans are the only species that thrives on visibility. Los Angeles artist Ariana Schindler takes visibility to the level of provocation with her designs for the countercultural fashion brand Damage Group. "Looks like heaven and feels like hell" describes her subversive aesthetics online. The strategy of contradiction points at deeper incongruencies in the world, including "geopolitical themes revolving around government corruption, global strife, nuclear and biological warfare, government surveillance, technology, and any topic that is making the world, in some cases, a worse place to live in for the ordinary person" (MIXMAG Asia). Join Ariana Schindler live online to hear where the drive for provocation comes from, where it will lead, and why it takes place on the clothes we wear.

Ariana Schindler is an artist concerned with contemporary aesthetics, expression, and critical analysis of the status quo. She utilizes her experience in the underground arts to bring experimental design to the mainstream. Ariana’s previous work includes creative direction for a contemporary art center, creative direction for an artificial intelligence project for Sundance Film Festival, fashion design for Taipei’s AMPM, illustration/creative direction for artists and activists such as Pussy Riot and Lil Xan, and curation of multiple exhibitions including Tendrement, which showcased Matieres Fecales, Stephanie Sarley, and Parker Day.
