Nine Pound Shadow
Their experimental folk-pop, dirty yet majestic like The Zombies, possesses a romantic lilt.
Nine Pound Shadowfeaturing Berkeley-born and raised brothers Breandain and Christopher Langloiscreates a very California sort of sound, with era-transcending music. Their wistful style emanates timeless warmth through lilting guitars, psychedelically spun keys, and hummable sun-kissed vocals.
In 2015, their single Melody was chosen as one of eleven songs to launch Danger Mouses record label, 30th Century Records, and was featured on NPRs All Songs Considered. Their follow-up single Bridges was picked as one of Apple Musics Best of the Week and held a place on Spotifys Viral 50 in the US. The duo released an eponymous EP last year produced by Electric Guests Asa Taccone.
We Are The West
As vast and indefinable as the West itself, the intrepid sound stylists of We Are The West reach beyond the setting sun to create an eclectic symphonic landscape. Brett Hool and John Kibler formed We Are The West in a shipping container on a sheep farm in Holland, and began performing in an abandoned convent in Brooklyn, before heeding the call to continue West to Los Angeles. Originally described as a two-man orchestra of stunning vocals, meditative guitar, and exploratory double bass the duo now paints with a broad palette of sound incorporating percussion, woodwinds, strings, brass, keyboards, and unique vocal harmonies to color their dynamic and transporting songs.
Fond of merging the acoustics of nature with their own musical landscape, We Are The Wests national tours have included performances in natural desert amphitheaters, mine shafts, tow lots, sunset coves, and masonic temples, in addition to traditional theaters and festivals. Onstage they have supported a versatile range of artists, from indie rockers Lord Huron to chamber artist Kinan Azmeh of The Silk Road Ensemble.
For We Are The Wests first full-length album The Golden Shore, the band went to Grammy-winning engineer Husky Höskulds in Los Angeles to record live with their longtime drummer Elizabeth Goodfellow (Iron & Wine). Building on the bands four previous EPs, The Golden Shore is their boldest vision yet, with sounds forged from an alternate horizon.
