TONIGHT: Indie Latin roots w/ pop Diana Gameros Singer, songwriter, and composer Diana Gameros was born into a musical family surrounded by traditional Mexican songs of love and revolution. Singing mostly in Spanish, she creates authentic, inspiring music at the borderlands between cultures, languages, and genres. Since arriving to the Bay Area, Ms. Gameros has shared the stage with the San Francisco Symphony, Taylor Mac, Bebel Gilberto, and Natalia Lafourcade, among others. In 2013 she released her first album Eterno Retorno, a soulful retrospective of her journey as an immigrant. Ms. Gameros received the Emerging Leader Award from the Chicana/Latina Foundation in 2014 for her work in music and social justice activism. Her songs and story have been featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered and Weekend Edition, PRI’s The World and the PBS Newshour. Last year, Diana’s new album, Arrullo, was named among NPR’s Alt. In the past few years, the couple has visited more than twenty Latin American and U.S. cities, has participated in a number of festivals, and has shared the stage with many artists including Kevin Johansen, Javier Barria, and Aterciopelados. La Casa No Existe (2017), Alejandro y María Laura’s third record, was released recently to both critical and popular acclaim.
