SOLD OUT - Practical Garden Design for the Home Gardener

Wed Apr 11, 2018 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
UC Botanical Garden
Spend the morning turning your garden dreams into a reality! Join horticulturist for the Garden's Australasian and California collections, Clare Al-Witri, for a perennial garden design workshop. Come with a garden design project in mind and receive advice on steps you can take to create the garden you desire. You'll study concepts of garden design, such as contrasting foliage, negative space, and color, and learn solutions to common problems for the California home gardener. After a classroom presentation, you’ll have the opportunity to seek one-on-one advice from the instructor and consult and take home resources carefully curated to help you build and develop your Bay Area garden. Bring photos of your garden and any other references that may prove helpful as we workshop solutions for your garden space. Clare Al-Witri is a horticulturist in the Australasian and California collections at UCBG. She has gardened in public gardens on both the East and West Coasts, including Wave Hill (NY) and Heronswood (WA), and is interested in creating practical yet lively garden environments.
