Low- Cost Endoscope for Developing World
Team: Shreyas Dahotre, Danish Husain, Niral Sheth, and Visakha Suresh
The goal for this project is to provide a low cost endoscope that can display video and create images to be used to diagnosis head and neck cancers. A complete endoscope boom includes a light source, a camera, and a flexion mechanism. The light source is imperative to help create more clear images for diagnosis. For the endoscope to pass down the back of a patient’s throat, the endoscope must have a flexible tip that allows for the boom to be bent downward. The end goal for this low cost endoscopic camera will be to image the upper respiratory tract well enough for forms of cancer to be detected and have a system where images can be easily accessible.
