A+D Thursdays is a public lecture series embedded inside our Creative Gateway undergraduate course. The series exposes students and the public to a range of creative forms across the visual arts, performance, literature, film, and design. It introduces students and the community to our campus’s major museums, presenters, and academic departments, as well as to select Bay Area arts organizations and regional partners.

Arts + Design Thursdays @ BAMPFA: Creativity, Migration, Transformation
Thursdays at 12:00pm, Free and open to the public

This series explores connections among creative works, the experiences of migration, and the possibilities of personal and/or social transformation. Curated by UC Berkeley Professor Emeritus Alex Saragoza and supported by guest curator Kathryn Roszak, the series engages with pertinent questions such as: How do we understand the movement of people and change metaphorically and literally? What are the forces that motivate migration, and what transformations result from the movement of people from one place to another? How do artists represent and enact the vocabulary of migration? The approach of the series is relational and comparative, taking into account the diverse experiences of migrants and immigrants—Latinos and others, past and present. For more information, visit artsdesign.berkeley.edu/thursdays.

All talks are free and open to the public and are located in the BAMPFA theater. Lectures start at 12pm. Arts + Design Thursdays is made possible thanks to support from the Big Ideas Courses Program in the College of Letters & Sciences and from generous supporters of Berkeley Arts + Design.
