Leaving, 2020.
This lyric essay is a faux-abstraction of personal experience and growth in a particular human body on this planet. The original is composed of nearly 2,000 words, divided into short segments, which form an uneven chronology of various experiences that seem to have affected the development of the protagonist, who remains an unnamed "you." Thematically, the piece gradually encompasses and blurs various iterations of the word "leave" as both a noun, verb and concept until it is unclear whether "to leave" is to exit or arrive.
